The Dallas Gun
"On April 2, 1978 I appeared in a television mini-series called DALAS. This series, which was a mid-season replacement on CBS, was not expected to succeed.
On May 3, 1991 DALLAS aired its final episode in the U.S.A. - one of 357 over a period of 13 years. DALLAS played in 87 countries and in many different languages. It was the second longest running drama in television hisory and for years was the highest rated show ever on television in the U.S. Approximately 450 million people around the world watched DALLAS at least once a week (in some areas it was aired 5 times a week). The famous "Who Shot J.R.?" episode shown on November 21, 1990 was the second highest rated television episode ever run, earning it a 53.3 rating and a 77 share in Nielsen Television ratings.
I decided to have a present made for myself to commemorate DALLAS which would be both beautiful and functional. On these pages you will see one of the most striking and exquisite guns ever made by the best gunmaker in the world, Holland & Holland. Depicted on the gun are Southfork, the skyline of Dallas as it was in 1978 and engraved medallions of all the original stars of DALLAS. The gun took three years in the making and, needless to say, combines both function and beauty." Larry Hagman
